WA Premier Promises Feed-in Tariff

Western Australian Premier Alan Carpenter announced his intention to introduce a feed-in tarriff for domestic micro-generation suppliers if his government is re-elected in the September election.

The scheme allows homeowners to earn 60 cents per kilowatt hour on the electricity their solar installations generate - more than four times the cost of electricity to domestic customers.

The generous feed-in tariff lasts only until the cost of the system has been recovered, and the Premier's plan has been criticised by the Greens for not including commercial and industrial customers who would be capable of installing much larger systems.

Rebate Support Program
